How to Theme Your Instagram for Fall + How I Edit My Photos!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful day so far, and are feeling inspired for the week ahead!!  I am so excited to share this post, because I LOVE Instagram as well as creating a “theme” with my photos!  Instagram is one of the best platforms to express yourself, and your creativity, which is why I’m sharing some of my favorite tips on how to theme your Instagram for the fall! I’m also sharing my own personal editing tips, and my favorite filter/preset that I use on all of my photos!

Decide on Your Color Scheme

Deciding on your color scheme is the first step in having a cohesive feed!  To decide on a color story, ask yourself these questions:

What color(s) do you wear a lot of? Where do you take a majority of your photos (ex/ at the beach, in the city, against a wall, etc.)?   Are you drawn to warmer or cooler tones? What are you featuring in your photos (ex/ yourself, your outfits, food, landscape, etc.)

For my color scheme, I like to keep the background white or a light color, and I integrate a pop of orange in every post (for the fall)!  I tend to edit my pictures to be on the warmer side, but I typically will eliminate a majority of the yellow tones from my photos in order to make a crisp, white background!

Pick Your Filter/Preset

This is probably one of the most fun, yet difficult, things to do because there are so many incredible filters and presets out there!!  When it comes to picking a filter/preset, do a little bit of research beforehand!  Check out other Instagram accounts, and see what inspires you!  If someone has a filter they are using that you are inspired by, ask which one they use or if they have any similar recommendations!

Utilizing a filter/preset is the best way to “theme” your Instagram, because all of your photos will look exactly the same!  Once you decide on a filter/preset, use the same one on every single photo and tweak whatever may be necessary (such as the exposure, contrast, temperature, highlights/shadows, etc.)!

The best part about filters/presets is you can tweak them to your own personal preference!  I personally use the Tezza 02 preset, and I edit my photos with my Lightroom subscription on my MacBook Pro!  I alter and tweak the preset to fit my personal preference, and I paste the preset on every single one of my photos and make minor adjustments when necessary! Another filter that I love is A6 on VSCO, which is free!!

Evaluate Your Content

What do you like taking pictures of, and what do you post about the most?  Write down common objects, themes, places, and anything else that you frequently see throughout your photos! For example, I post a lot of outfit, coffee/tea, and flatlay photos, and I love featuring coffeeshops, taking pictures in the city, and showing the places that I’m visiting!  I enjoy showing warmth, coziness and joy through my photos, and sharing moments of my life that make me happy!

When it comes to creating content, make sure your photos and content are authentic to YOU!  Post photos that inspire you and make you happy, and that you feel proud of!  Content creation should be fun and inspiring, and if it starts to feel like a chore or unenjoyable then take a step back and focus on what inspired you to start creating in the first place!

Utilize a Planning App/Schedule Your Content

This tip has truly saved my life when it comes to planning out and creating content!  After editing my photos, I upload all of them into a folder that I created in my Photos app on my iPhone!  By doing this, I can see how all of the photos look together and I can move photos around accordingly!  I like to post on Instagram 3-4 times per week, so I will usually pick which photos I want to post based on how the photos “flow” together!  I know UNUM is a popular app (and it’s free!), and you can plan out your photos, write the captions, and schedule them to post on Instagram through the app!

Have Fun With It!

Instragram is filled with incredible content creators, including YOU!  Be proud of what you’re posting, and support fellow creators!  Don’t worry about likes or comments, just focus on your beautiful photos and what inspired you to post them!  It’s too easy to compare your content to everyone else, but stay true to yourself and keep moving forward!  I can’t wait to see what you create!!

Love & Good Vibes
