The Best Bookstore in Grand Rapids

The ceiling is completely original in this building, dating back to the 1800s!  It adds such a unique beauty, and really enhances the cozy, vintage vibes!

These handmade cards are absolutely beautiful, and each one tells the perfect story!

“Follow Your Own Path” my personal favorite!

Happy Wednesday everyone!!  I’ll be the first to say, I am absolutely thrilled that the weekend is almost here! Since I don’t have classes on Friday, my weekend starts every Thursday at 12:45 pm!  I can’t wait, especially since I’ve caught the dreaded winter sickness that’s been making it’s way around!

I mentioned in my Coffee Date no.1 post that I was going to share the best bookstore in Grand Rapids with all of you, and this place is truly a beautiful hidden gem!  Books & Mortar is a newly opened indie bookstore, and it sits on Cherry Street right next to my favorite macaron and sushi restaurant!  How perfect!  Christopher Roe and Jonathan Shotwell are booksellers and the proud owners of Books & Mortar, and speaking with Jonathan personally made me feel so warm and welcome!  Not only are they both incredibly kind, genuine individuals, but their bookstore is simply beautiful.

Walking into Books & Mortar, I immediately felt cozy and nostalgic while browsing the shelves!  Books from all genres filled each wall, and local artwork was sprinkled throughout the entire store.  There’s also a surprise kids section in the back of the store, with an abundance of natural light, fresh plants, a table for the kids to paint/draw, and beautifully illustrated children’s books!  The beauty and cozy vibes from Books & Mortar shine inside and out, and I truly didn’t want to leave!  They mentioned on the website wanting to “encourage healthy community”, and I genuinely believe they’ve done so with the perfect addition to Cherry Street!

This post is a little different than my normal content, but I couldn’t resist sharing my absolute favorite bookstore with all of you!  In a technology-filled world, sometimes the perfect getaway is visiting a bookstore and browsing through each section.  I found a beautiful book called “The Joy of Less”, and I cannot wait to start reading!!

Love & Good Vibes

This is so cute! We have this bookstore in LA called “The Last Bookstore” in my neighborhood that I absolutely love! It’s grungier though and they sell used books 🙂
