Hi everyone, it’s been a while!! I cannot even explain how much I’ve missed you all!  Lately my life has consisted of moving into (and organizing) my new apartment, party planning, prepping for classes/attending classes/homework, sorority meetings, conference calls, job searching, and occasionally eating and sleeping! But I’m finally back, and I felt like an inspirational/happy post was exactly what I needed to share with all of you (including myself)!

Monday Inspiration!

Hi everyone, happy Monday!  I’m sure all of you know that Monday is my favorite day of the week, because it’s a fresh start to brand new opportunities!  I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately, especially since I’ve had some midterms and essays weighing on me!  In situations like this, I like to take a breather and do things that I love.  Today I’m heading to the downtown market in GR with one of my best friends (and future roomie)!  I love the downtown market, and I might have to stop by Sweetielicious for a yummy dessert!  Tomorrow I’m heading downtown again with one of my other best friends, and I cannot even wait! Throughout these two days, we’re going to do some new exploring and have amazing conversation!  On Wednesday I’m babysitting most of the day, and I have a fun study date planned as well as an amazing Stella & Dot jewelry party that evening!  That’s what I love to do when I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed.  I love to step away from it, and enjoy quality time with friends and loved ones!  I have a hectic two weeks with midterms, but I’m heading to Toronto on Thursday with my boyfriend for his formal, and next weekend I’m heading to Gulf Shores for a week for Spring Break!

Most people dislike Mondays, but try to look at them as a brand new opportunity for the week to come!  Instead of dwelling on negative things, look forward to the future and things that make you happy!  I use Mondays to plan out my life and schedule fun opportunities for the rest of my week!  Use Mondays as your inspiration, instead of focusing on the fact that it’s the first day back to school/work.  Plan out your week, spend time with friends or loved ones, get in a good workout, and start your week off right!

Be Your Best Self

Hi everyone, today I’m taking a quick break from fashion posts to talk about something so important.  I want to talk about yourself, and how to be the best you can be.  I feel like a lot of us are so concerned with fitting in, that we lose ourselves in the process.  Your habits, goals, hobbies, ideas, thoughts, fashion sense, intelligence, dreams, and fears make you special and incredibly important!  And it’s okay if yours are different from other people’s.  I put together a few ideas on how to love yourself for who you are, and how to make sure you’re as happy as you can be!

  • Love yourself.  Cue Hailee Steinfeld, because every single time I say “love yourself” the song Love Myself pops into my head!  But anyway, loving yourself is incredibly important.  Find what makes your mind, body, and spirit happy, and immerse yourself in it!  If something is negatively affecting your life, then it’s time to move on.  Nothing in the world is worth sacrificing your happiness.  With that said, look at life through a positive mindset!  I personally like to start my day with a positive quote or thought, and I also like to start my day early.  I’m up every morning (during the week) by 6:30 am and by 9 am on the weekend. One thing that makes me so happy and grateful is the calmness of the morning.  I love the quiet stillness when the sun is just beginning to rise, and it feels as if the rest of the world is asleep.  I am a very positive person when it comes to the value of life and the value of myself, and I choose to find the beauty in every day!
  • Stop copying/comparing yourself to others.  Yes we all have people we idolize and who we wish we could be, but it’s not worth changing yourself over.  I think we’ve all admired someone’s outfit, handbag, body, or life in general, and it’s okay to be inspired by them!  There are so many inspirational men and women in this world, but there’s also a point where inspiration comes to imitation.  We’ve all dealt with the (I hate to say it) annoying person who wants to do everything we want to do, and who wants every single thing we have.  While it’s nice to know people look up to you, I guarantee you’ve called your mom complaining about the person who is “copying you”.  On the opposite hand, most of us are also guilty of doing that to people!  Society as a whole really can’t function well without people “copying” others, and it’s how a lot of trends start in fashion, sports, news, media, and online.  With that said, it’s more than okay to be inspired by someone (or multiple people), but don’t lose yourself in the process!  You’re incredibly special and unique, and I guarantee you inspire people just the way you are!
  • Surround yourself with positive influences.  I honestly feel like the luckiest person in the world with the amount of love and happiness I receive from all of my friends and family, and from the love of my life!  When I was in high school, I was surrounded by negative people who I believe truly hated themselves.  The best thing I ever did was get away from those people, and lose contact with them.  If you’re in a similar situation, I highly suggest doing the same thing!  You won’t believe how much better you’ll feel about yourself!  Being surrounded by negative energy is enough to make anyone dislike themselves, and that is not worth anyone’s time or energy.  Surround yourself with people who make your life better, and who impact it in a positive way.  Get involved in something that makes you incredibly happy (for me, it’s Delta Zeta), and love every moment!

Live Your Best Life

We all have our good days, and also our bad ones.  Some days we feel on top of the world, like everything is happening just as it’s supposed to.  Other days we feel like we are going to lose it, and that’s okay.  We are all human, and the best and worst days happen to all of us.  Through the good and the bad, it’s important to live your life in the best way you can.

Start each day with a positive mindset.  One thing I like to do is read a positive quote right when I wake up in the morning.  I have been doing this for a while, and I will notice myself repeating the quote throughout the day whenever I need some encouragement.  Also, try to set aside some time in the morning for “me time”.  Make a hot cup of coffee, and take some time for just yourself.  Even if this means waking up an hour earlier, it’s a perfect way to start your day on a positive note.

Disconnect.  Our society is completely wrapped up in technology, and always feeling the need to know everything about everyone.  Disconnecting from your phone, laptop, tablet, and television for a little bit out of each day will help relax your mind and also help you experience new things.  Set your phone aside, and pick up a book you’ve been wanting to read, or take out a journal and write down your thoughts.  Take some time to disconnect from the hectic world that surrounds us, and live in that moment of bliss.

Take a walk.  Nothing is more beautiful than the nature around us.  Being outdoors is great for your body, and it is a great way to de-stress.  Take a walk by yourself, or with friends, and explore the world around you.  Let yourself wander, and see where you end up.  Let yourself discover new places, and uncover beauty that you never would have noticed before.

Surround yourself.  Surround yourself with people who make you happy, and who influence your life in a positive way.  Before I left for University, there were a lot of people in my life who were bringing me down.  Some were “friends”, some were acquaintances, some were people who I disliked because they were truly mean-hearted.  However I let all of them negatively influence my life in some way.  I have always been a happy, upbeat person, but I noticed myself being more negative because of these people.  With some, it was hard for me to see at first, but slowly I realized those people were not worth keeping in my life.  I severed all connections with a majority of those people, and now I truly feel blessed with the amount of positive people in my life.  I honestly cannot imagine my life without them.  I like to surround myself with my entire family (including my boyfriend’s family), all of my wonderful friends, my pets, and anyone who has made a positive influence in my life.  If someone is bringing you down and making you feel less than exceptional, they do not deserve to be in your life.  You deserve nothing but happiness, and people who will support you and your goals in life.

Stop comparing yourself.  This is something a lot easier said than done.  A lot of us wish we had someone else’s life, or could look the way someone else does; but look at the wonderful, great life that you have.  Love yourself through every imperfection, because no one is perfect in this world.  Do not let anyone change who you are, and do not change yourself to fit any standard.  Be happy, be strong, and be yourself.

“Every sunrise is a new beginning”.  Some days are hard, but today will be great.  You only have one life, make the most of it and enjoy every moment.  Find the good in every day, and find time to love yourself and to find the beauty that exists in this world.  This is your life, live it in the best way possible.
