Happy December everyone!  December is my favorite month, and I am completely in the Holiday spirit!  I have two weeks until I am on Christmas break, and these two weeks will consist of many sleepless nights and probably a few coffee overdoses as I study for my finals.  Anyway, I wanted to share with you my updated fitness/healthy lifestyle routine, and talk about the progress I want to make in the upcoming year.

Working out is something I absolutely love to do, however I’m lacking in motivation.  One thing I am going to do starting in 2016 is hire a personal trainer to write out a workout schedule for me based on my specific body type and goals.  Workouts vary from person to person, and I want to make sure I’m doing the best possible workout for my body.  I’m focusing primarily on toning my muscles, and not on weight loss.  As of right now, I love doing the Blogilates series, the Tone it Up series, and I’m beginning to do the Kayla Itsines series as well.  The thing I like best about all three of these workout series is that you can do them at home or at a gym.  They are good for sculpting and toning your entire body, but there are a ton of specialized workouts for specific areas of the body.

I’ve said this before, but I cannot say it enough.  Hot yoga is literally my obsession, and it is so amazing for your body.  It detoxifies your body while also making you stronger and more flexible.  I also enjoy regular yoga, and I’m taking a class twice a week starting next semester.  I recommend taking a yoga class before you take a hot yoga class, to make sure you are able to learn and hold the positions correctly.  I’m also taking a zumba class twice a week next semester, and I cannot wait!  Zumba is such a fun way to workout, and you see serious results!

Aside from working out, I like to make sure I’m living a healthy lifestyle.  That includes getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, eating healthy, and doing things that make me happy!  Also, you don’t need to deprive yourself of things that you love.  I love a soy vanilla latte and muddy buddies more than anything, and I refuse to cut those completely out of my life.  In moderation, anything is okay and it’s not going to negatively affect your body.  I use the My Fitness Pal app every day to track my exercise, water intake, and my meals.  I also make a “Weekly Meals” calendar where I plan out my meals for the upcoming week.  These things help me to track my intake of food, and to make sure I’m getting a variety of vitamins and nutrients throughout the week.  But treat yourself and have an indulgence whether it’s per week or per night.  Part of having a healthy lifestyle is being happy with yourself, and loving who you are as a person!

Throughout 2016, I will be posting healthy recipes as well as other workout routines I may be doing!  Definitely let me know some of your workout goals and routines, and make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss out on any future posts!

xo, Tessa
