Detoxify Your Life

Today I’m sharing some tips and inspiration with you all to help remove negative energy and people from your life…

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and are having a fantastic week so far!  As most of you know, I’m a huge believer in good vibes and letting go of negative energy!  Throughout my sophomore year, I felt like I was involved with a lot of negative people which lead me to be negative about myself.  I was unhappy far too often, and I was letting these negative people affect my life way too much.  My best friend Alyssa (Somewhere Between Vogue & Van Gogh) was actually feeling the same way, so we decided to go for a crucial detox session!  We started with an amazing power flow at my favorite yoga hothouse, and spent the day chatting over coffee at our favorite coffee shop in Grand Rapids!  Upon endless conversation about these negative people, we decided to remove them from our lives!  We unfriended/unfollowed them, and I cannot tell you how amazing that felt!  Removing negative influences may seem hard at first, but I promise you’ll feel 100x better once you do it!  I think we all find ourselves feeling down or negative sometimes, and I also believe some of us let others affect our lives that really shouldn’t be apart of it.  So I wanted to share some ideas with all of you to help you overcome any negative energy thrown your way, while helping you feel better overall!

Hot Yoga Hot yoga is the greatest thing on earth, and it is so beneficial to your body!  It helps to detox your mind, body, and spirit while leaving you incredibly happy and enlightened!  The thing I love most about hot yoga is my mindset is focused on my breathing and body, and I never find it wandering off!  I highly recommend hot yoga for anyone looking to improve their well-being, because it’s the perfect way to decrease stress and increase positivity while getting in a good workout!

Meditate This may seem crazy/weird to some, but just give it a try!  Meditation is a great way to relax, while promoting self-awareness!  I enjoy meditating in the morning, so I start my day with a positive mindset!  I also enjoy meditating with my salt rock lamp lit, and my charged crystals!  This may seem a bit much for some people, but don’t knock it until you try it!  There are a ton of videos all over YouTube to help you get started, and to inform you about what crystals are best for you!

Read  Reading self empowerment books is by far one of my favorite things to do!  I love books filled with positive words and ways that we can all be the best we can be!  These are my favorite books, and I’m always looking for more!  They’re all filled with inspiration, and helpful tips for living a heathy life!detoxbooks

The Soul Searcher’s Handbook//Leave Your Mark//Adventures For Your Soul//Eat Pretty

Go Explore  Get out of your current area, and go explore the world around you!  Go on a walk or hike, and allow yourself to clear your mind from negativity!  Nothing is more beautiful than the nature around us. Being outdoors is great for your body, and it is a great way to de-stress. Take a walk by yourself, or with friends, and explore the world around you! Let yourself wander, and see where you end up. Discover new places, and uncover beauty that you never would have noticed before!  I personally love to go outside in the morning, and enjoy the quiet tranquility when it feels like the rest of the world is still asleep. Take some time to watch the sunrise, listen to the birds chirping, smell fresh flowers, listen to waves crash against the shore, watch the sunset, and stargaze! I personally love sitting outside and enjoying nature with a hot mug of tea!

Be Around Positive Influences  Surround yourself with positive people and positive vibes, and I promise you you will feel so much better!  I love to talk to my favorite people every single day, and make plans to grab coffee or have a night in with them!  Surrounding yourself with people who allow you to love every ounce of yourself, as well as those around you, is truly so special and wonderful!  I also like to make my room and my overall space a very positive place!  I always set my phone background to an inspirational image or quote, and I always make sure my bedroom is clean(ish!) and full of positive vibes!  I achieve this by lighting my salt rock lamp, setting out some crystals, lighting a candle, and allowing myself to enjoy every moment!

Eat Healthy  You’re probably SO sick of hearing me say this, but I honestly cannot preach it enough!  Eating healthy will cause you to feel so happy and energized, which in turn leads to a more positive lifestyle!  I start each morning with hot tea and water and a healthy breakfast!  For lunch I always eat a salad, and I eat some fruit too!  Dinner varies, but it’s always something homemade with fresh ingredients!  I’ve shared plenty of healthy recipes, and I plan on sharing a lot more, so check them out under the Food section of my blog!

Disconnect  We’re all guilty of stalking Kylie Jenner on Instagram, but allow yourself to disconnect from social media for a little bit!  While social media is a great way to get inspired and share you life, it also causes so many people to compare themselves to others.  Comparison is the thief of joy, and you do not deserve to feel down about yourself because your life is different than someone else’s!  Try not to get on social media the second you wake up, and allow yourself to enjoy your morning with loved ones.  Or plug your phone in around dinnertime, and spend the evening doing something you love!

Let Go Let go of negative people and influences who aren’t affecting your life in a positive way!  Unfriend/unfollow them off of social media, and make an effort to distance yourself.  Anything in your life that isn’t influencing you in a positive, uplifting way is not worth keeping around!  I promise you, once you do this, you will feel incredible!

Get Inspired  If you’re on social media, follow accounts that make you feel happy when you look at them! I follow a ton of fellow bloggers, vegan food accounts, travel accounts, yoga accounts, workout accounts, and inspirational accounts!  I personally love looking at other people’s adventures or cute pictures, and that is what inspires me!  One person who particularly stands out to me is Marissa Lace!  I follow her on Instagram, and I also have seen every single one of her YouTube videos!  She is absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend checking her out!

Love Yourself  Your happiness begins with YOU!  This is something that I particularly struggle with, but I’ve been working on it and getting a lot better!  Find what makes your mind, body, and spirit happy, and immerse yourself in it!  If something is negatively affecting your life, then it’s time to move on.  Nothing in the world is worth sacrificing your happiness.  With that said, look at life through a positive mindset!  I personally like to start my day with a positive quote or thought, and I also like to start my day early. I’m up every morning (during the week) by 6:30 am and by 9 am on the weekend. I do this because one thing that makes me so happy and grateful is the calmness of the morning. I love the quiet stillness when the sun is just beginning to rise, and it feels as if the rest of the world is asleep. I am a very positive person when it comes to the value of life, and I choose to find the beauty in every day!  That helps me love myself more, because I find myself being more positive and happy overall!
