Desk Tour & Organization {DIY Vision Board Under $10}

Happy Wednesday, and happy March everyone!!  I hope you’ve had a beautiful week so far!  Since it’s officially a brand new month, use today to set daily and weekly intentions and to treat yourself to something special!

With spring right around the corner, my mind has been set on cleaning up and organizing my apartment! Over the past few months, my desk had become the designated space for me to throw every random object/clothing item/piece of jewelry so I figured clearing off and reorganizing it would be the perfect way to kickstart my spring cleaning!  I wanted to incorporate this into Wellness Wednesday because I believe a cluttered mind leads to a cluttered life, so creating a beautiful, clean space is the perfect way to inspire your mind and soul!  This also lead to me creating this vision board to hang right above my desk, and I constantly catch myself staring at it and letting my mind wander!  It’s the perfect addition, so make sure you keep reading to find out how to create your own DIY vision board for under $10!

So let’s start with this desk!  This is the desk that was provided by my apartment complex, and while it isn’t my ideal desk I like the mixture of dark wood and metal!  I plan on eventually getting an all white desk to keep my workspace looking light and bright, but for now this desk fits my space perfectly!

I always feel much more inspired while sitting at my desk as opposed to when I’m curled up in bed, and I’ve noticed that’s when my best thoughts flow!  That’s why I like to keep my Erin Condren Life Planner, which is my blogging/fitness planner, on my desk as well as my favorite “Keep It Simple” journal!  I also have a white geode/crystal coaster that I purchased from Anthropologie, and they come in a ton of different color options so definitely take a look!!

Since I absolutely love to read, I wanted to display some of my favorite books in the corner of my desk!  These are some of the books I find to be the most inspirational, so I couldn’t resist adding them to my workspace!  The books I chose to display are A Wilder Life, The Year of Cozy, All In Good Taste, The Soul Searcher’s Handbook, #GIRLBOSS, How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are, The Joy of Less, and The Little Book of Mindfulness!  I also added my favorite white and gold “T” mug at the top, filled with my coffee pencils (the gold version of the mug is an Anthropologie exclusive during the holidays, check out the black and white version of the monogram mug)!

I like to display my two favorite perfumes on my desk, Miss Dior and COCO Chanel, as well as some of my skincare essentials!  The Collection Maison Hand Lotion in Linden Tea is truly heavenly, and I love the vintage style bottle that the product is in!  It’s also made in France, so I couldn’t resist displaying it!  I also have the Mario Badescu Facial Spray on my desk, and it’s the perfect, refreshing pick-me-up that I use a little too often!  This facial spray is made with aloe, herbs, and rosewater, and it’s a definite must-have!  I am also a fan of the French Girl Organics line, and I chose to display the rose Facial Polish and the Rose Lip Polish!  Both products are incredible, and I have an updated skincare routine coming very soon featuring the facial spray, facial polish, and lip polish!  I also keep my favorite stationary set from my Grandma right by these products, and I love thinking of her every time I’m at my desk!

An absolute must have for me is my Himalayan salt rock lamp, and keeping it on my desk is essential!  Salt rock lamps help to cleanse the air, increase energy levels, improve mood and concentration, help provide better sleep, and are environmentally friendly (to name a few benefits)!  I love having this lamp on all of the time, but especially while I’m planning out the day/week, blogging, or while I’m studying!  I also keep my favorite candle burning, and I always have fresh flowers on my desk to promote positivity, overall happiness and beauty!

DIY VISION BOARD

What You’ll Need:

Bulletin Board (I found mine at Meijer on sale for $6)

Scissors

Tape/Glue

A Color Printer (or a place where you can print color photos)

To Make:

I found all of the images for my board on Pinterest, however you can cut out pictures from magazines, newspapers, journals (truly anything) if you don’t want to print pictures!  I added all of the photos into a Microsoft Word document, and printed each picture at the Copy Center at my college!

Next, cut out each picture, and arrange the photos into a collage without gluing/taping them down so you can figure out exactly how you’d like the pictures arranged!  Once you have your perfect collage, tape/glue down the photos to the board and you’re all set!  You can use as many or as little photos as you’d like, whatever inspires you the most! *I chose to glue white card stock paper to the base of my bulletin board, and I taped the photos to the card stock rather than to the actual surface of the bulletin board!

Spring cleaning has officially begun, so make sure you check back next week for my complete Spring Cleaning Checklist!  I’m also going to be featuring other areas of my room, including my meditation corner and my travel wall, so more decor and DIY posts are coming soon!

    Your book collection is on point! I totally know the struggle of spring cleaning and keeping that desk space clean. Mine is absolutely hidden underneath piles and piles of open mail. You’ve inspired me to get on the cleaning train and get rid of the clutter!
